2nd Open Source World Conference Mérida (Extremadura), 25-26 October

Regional Governments of Extremadura and Andalusia, Open Source related companies and other entities organize the 2nd Open Source World Conference. In this edition, the conference will take place in two different dates and locations: Mérida (Extremadura, Spain) on October 25 and 26; and Málaga (Andalusia, Spain) on February 15, 16 and 17 of 2006 under the slogan "Innovation and Freedom".

Papers will be accepted for the face to face sessions or for the website. The subjects include:
*Universalization of Knowledge, papers related to experiences and models based on the sharing of knowledge, as experiences in technological literacy, shared development of scientific and artistic works, as well as the legal framework concerned with the creation of knowledge, software patents, Creative Commons, GPL ...

* Strategies and policies, i.e. all themes related to experiences and projects launched from the Public Administrations, Institutions and Public Organizations around Software and Free Knowledge.* Economy of Free Software, aimed at business, business models, service suppliers , case studies, technic support, brand-new developments.
* Technological Development and Innovation of Free Software where will be included all the technical aspects about the Free Software development, with special interest in the next fields: Free Software as a tool for supporting innovation, Free Software distributions, graphical environments, applications for the final user, Accesibility, Development of applications and environments, Kernel, Communities, Users Groups and colaborative actions, etc.

We will only accept Papers sent by e-mail to 2conferencia@juntaextremadura.net (in any open standard format, plain text, rtf, pdf...) or through the application available in http://2conferencia.gnulinex.org/cfp
Papers can be sent in English and/or Spanish languages. A Paper (can't exceed more than 15 pages double spaced), including Title, Author's Name, Origin, Sending Address , Telephone Number, Fax y e-mail of the main author, and it must reach to the President of the Scientific Committee or to the general secretariat of the Conference before August, 31th, 2005.

The document must reflect the final paper as it will appear in the Conference exactly. The maximum length of the Paper must be six pages.

Sending Papers: up to August, 31th, 2005
Acceptance (deadline): October, 5th, 2005
Prescription and definitive documents: October, 10th, 2005

* SCIENTIFIC JURY: Will take in charge the responsibility of the diffusion of the call for papers, the collection of communications, its evaluation, selection and classification, the interlocution with the speakers in the technical aspects and the elaboration of the proposal of organization of the sessions.

It will name, jointly with the Organizing Committee, the directors / coordinators / moderators of the sessions, round tables and workshops. Will take in charge the responsibility of the contents of the Conference book, the magazine of the Conference and the update of the Conference Web page.
