Established in 1981, the Distributed Systems Group is both the longest standing and largest research group in the Department of Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin. DSG conducts basic and applied research into all aspects of distributed computing extending from the theoretical foundations underpinning the field to system engineering issues. The group has extensive experience in running national and European funded research projects. Stephen is principle investigator in one Media Lab Europe/TCD collaborative 3 year project. He lectures at Postgraduate and Masters level at TCD and has lectured on distributed systems technologies at an international level.
Since mid 2003, Stephen has directed the transition of the companies product line to an open source business model. His experience thus combines an academic and research background in innovation and development and delivery of teaching with practical experience of the application open source methodology and business models to real world problems.
