The Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit (FTZ) is a Maltese not-for-profit foundation operating in the field of education and training, focussing mainly on lifelong learning, science and technology issues and research activities. Various public, private and voluntary organisations have pooled their resources to set up this inclusive platform and thereby maximize the benefits of their participation in national and transnational projects (i.e UNESCO funded Avicenna project). The Foundation, whose vision is to create a culture of learning, hopes to accelerate the adoption of ICT-assisted learning and to produce a critical mass of knowledge resources. It strongly believes that the development of flexible learning environments can help equip our society to face the challenges of the present and the future.

The FTZ is ideally-placed to join and/or promote the active participation of its members in European transnational projects in several areas. Indeed, some of the FTZ core corporate members (such as the Malta Council for Science and Technology, the University of Malta and the Ministry of Education) act as the national contact point organisations for a number of EU and international programmes. The Foundation is particularly active in science and research projects, as it can rely on the extensive experience gained by some of its members in the EU’s Fifth and Sixth Framework Programmes for RTD.
